The Project
The project: Exploring Catholic mobility in 17th century Palestine
The data presented here were collected in the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie project Migration in the early modern world: the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land as a facilitator of the circulation of people in the Mediterranean (17th century), https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/ren/projects/earlymodernworldmigration/ .
Funded by the European Commission, in the framework of Horizon 2020, the project, was carried on by Felicita Tramontana and Beat Kümin (supervisor). It focuses on unstudied movements of individuals and groups from Palestine to the Christian world and vice-versa and, on a smaller scale, between the newly established Catholic parishes in Palestine during the 17th century. The data contained in this digital archive have been used to reconstruct internal mobility in Palestine and the demography of Bethlehem’s Catholic community (17th century).
